As a highly experienced leader with over 30 years of experience working with First Nations and Metis groups, I was appointed to the Board of Directors for the WCDC in 2017. In 2020, I was elected as Chairperson and currently serve as the Chairperson/CEO. Prior to joining the WCDC team, I spent 21 years at the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT), where I was part of the Management Team that secured legislation for SIIT from the SK Government. I also served as the Partnerships Manager with the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s Economic Development Department. In 2014, I joined the Enbridge team, where I worked on the Line 3 Replacement Program, engaging with Indigenous groups. Additionally, I worked on the Line 5 Tunnel Project in Michigan, assisting the Enbridge Great Lakes Region Team with Tribal engagement.

I’m Harris Sutherland, and I’ve been happily married to Carolyn Sutherland for 13 years. Our family has called North Battleford home for the past 13 years, and I’m the proud son of Josie and Marie Sutherland. Professionally, I’ve dedicated over 17 years of my career to serving as the Customer Experience Manager at Gold Eagle Casino. I’ve also had the privilege of being the former President of the Battleford’s Chamber of Commerce, a historic accomplishment as the first First Nations person to hold this prestigious position. Additionally, I made history again by becoming the first First Nations individual to be named to the Northwest College Board of Directors, a testament to my commitment to advancing the interests of our community.

After earning my credentials in Accounting and Computer Accounting, I owned, operated, and helped others build several successful businesses for over 20 years. I intend on assisting my community in moving forward towards financial stability and self-governance.
